Wordpress for Beginners: Introducing Keywords to You
There is an instructor who really teaches this keyword stuff well. That is, it is good for beginners because he has a calm voice, and does not speak too quickly. His name is John Jarvis, and he is very knowledgeable about keyword research.
Today's brief post discusses how you can learn the basics simply by listening. Yes, you can sit in your chair, kick back & listen (and view) while John presents the material to you via video.
He instructs on how to find a keyword that will make you money. He touches on using the Google Adwords keyword external tool - so you'll get a introduction to that.
He shows you about which choices to select inside the Tool (such as the country - he usually chooses USA rather than Canada - as it has better traffic). Also, in the video ..the various columns are shown, and he discusses at length which ones to "checkmark", and he also SHOWS you how to copy your chosen keywords to the clipboard .
Additionally, he explains how to look at the competition and analyze it properly. In the end, you'll gain a good sense of what sort of keywords to go after!
Longtail Keywords: The Importance of These
A longtail keyword is 4 words or more - and yes, John covers this in the second video at THIS page. In case you didn't realize it, it is worthwhile to "drill down" and locate the longtail keyword because when a keyword phrase has many descriptors in it.. well, it generally means that the searcher is getting more determined & 'closer to a purchase'.
As you go along in his free video course (which consists of 5 short videos), he'll show you how it's important to HIDE personal results - i.e., in order to analyze competitors' websites (in say the Top 10 results on Google) you must first HIDE your own personal website results .
The basics of keyword research is explained in more detail here.
You'll have a better understanding and comprehension of the whole topic when you've gone through John Jarvis' excellent video tutorial training.
Thanks for listening and good luck,
Jan Ashby

Getting Started with Wordpress: Keyword Research and Longtail Keywords
Longtails: Laying a Good Keyword Research Foundation
Hello. Today I want to make a recommendation to those getting started with Wordpress blogs. When you do your keyword research - which is the very first thing you should DO - you really ought to consider hunting for true "longtail" keywords.
True longtail keywords are 4 words and more. Believe it or not, sometimes when I'm performing keyword research I find phrases that are 3 words and have decent enough search - but turn out to be too competitive.
And if they're too competitive for myself - Jan
...then these '3 word' keyword phrases will likely be too difficult for newcomers to the game (Wordpress that is).
Now, don't get me wrong - you can STILL find some non-competitive 3-word keyword phrases. You just need to be prepared to dig down DEEP and hunt for 4, 5 and 6 word phrases you can use.
Before I forget, I want to recommend this great post that SHOWS you that 4-word keyword phrases are getting the bulk of the traffic.
What's neat is it contains CHARTS & visuals that prove that longtails are worthwhile - they convert better - as the first visual illustrates.
It makes sense if you think about it a while. When shoppers are looking for something online, & they type descriptors in.. it means they are closer to making a decision.
Longtail Keywords: Go with What Works Best
Since terms with more descriptors in them are fruitful, as a beginner to wordpress you should train yourself now to dig for the gold ! That's my opinion. Go to my life skills training blog for some sound keyword training.

I'm marketing online, and enjoying doing so. I teach beginners wordpress - if you are a newcomer to Wordpress and would like some free internet marketing training .. visit Here
If you're wondering what sort of training you'll uncover at the link above, well it takes you inside the wordpress dashboard. The video at the TOP of the page is explaining about the Initial Steps one would take, right after installing wordpress (in one's cpanel).
John Jarvis is the trainer, and he patiently explains about the various plugins, and using Askimet for preventing spam. He prepares a blog post in front of you, showing you fonts and headers. It's a demonstration video, basically.
It's good for beginners. In conjunction with this tutorial, you ought to view the Blog Template I hyperlinked in this sentence. It shows you how to execute "h1" tags, "h2" tags, coding for italics or BOLD, and how to Center something on a page.
Something else that is useful for Newbies to know is Image "alt-text" SEO. I did a whole video post on this, and so you can visit Alt-tag seo post . The vid is 4 minutes long, and is easy for newcomers to digest.

Wordpress for Beginners: Post Thumbnail editor and more..
April 24, 2013
Here's a useful post for beginners to wordpress - my post contains two (2) video tutorials by really easy-going fellows. If you're a relative newcomer to Wordpress, you'll get a ton out of these video instructionals.
I especially like the 2nd video. In it, Tyler Moore demonstrates HOW to fashion a blog using a theme with Sliders .
You'll see how to use "Featured Image" within your Wordpress, plus how to "spiff up" your front page. And you'll learn how to use certain plugins - for example, a thumbnail plugin.
(it's called Post Thumbnail editor).
Also included: an example of a template
To read the full post, go to Life Skills Training and education . Alternately, go read up on how to do keyword research

Hi all.
Jan Ashby here.
If you're new to keyword research, you should pay attention as I have a few Golden Nuggets of information:
Today I share with you 4 mentoring lessons I gleaned from an SEO and keyword research master. Just who am I talking about?
I'm referring to John Jarvis, an ex-construction worker turned internet marketer - he truly knows his stuff. This Canadian gentleman has many top ten listings - one of them is "how to be first on Google".
(Click link above, for proof of his Top 10 result - use control "F" on your keyboard to do a Search for John Jarvis).
*Note: When you see his youtube video, it will say Henry Jarvis - that is him ! As of today (April 10, 2013) he is in position 7 )
The Meaningful Lessons Learned: Keyword Research
Since I was somewhat of a newbie on keyword research, I wanted to learn a lot MORE about the topic. I found that John Jarvis was not a braggart - he truly knew many meaningful lessons, and I decided I could get a great education from him.
I learned about stuff like "related keywords", longtail keywords, and how to use video appropriately in my wordpress blog posts. If you are a Wordpress beginner (and especially if you're wanting to learn about video blogging and video SEO), then you too can become illuminated.
If you have a thirst for blogging and want to get started, you should visit my Free Internet Marketing training post. It will show you how to design your blog, set up your plugins and permalink structure, how to design your Home Page, how to add video and "widgets" to your blog, and also how to get a Facebook fan page set up (plus info on Facebook groups).
Back to keyword research - I 've got some free video lessons on keyword research to share with you - here is an excellent tutorial on Related keywords .
